Ben Trovato, meaning “well invented” or “it would be a good story if true” was in existence as a house from 1890-1970 in various forms and layouts. Byrd Spilman Dewey and husband Fred S. Dewey transformed a basic cottage to the grand home Ben Trovato in 1890. They lived in the house until 1909.
